We offer a zero-emissions building model which is proven to be high-performance as it is climate-dependent tailored to an individual locality. In addition to being a registered architect, Maggie is a Certified Passive House Consultant (CPHC) through PHIUS, holding the California/ Pacific Regional Representative position for the PHIUS Alliance Council. In this role, she participates in the development of the larger organization while connecting to local and regional issues and the role of zero-emissions building models. She is also involved in developing policy and incentives for PHIUS, bringing the model to the governmental level.
Incentives for building towards net-zero include:
-
Buildings and construction account for approximately 40% of carbon emissions. Reducing emissions will create a healthier environment through eco-conscious building
-
Healthy buildings support occupants in their physical and mental wellbeing
-
Net-zero buildings are incredibly comfortable
- Net-zero buildings provide healthy indoor air
-
Net-zero building design does not cost significantly more than conventional construction. Building to net-zero can certainly be done with smaller budgets and save on operating costs over a lifetime without complex technology. The additional costs are essentially what would go towards utilities in conventional construction
-
Net-zero buildings do not need to be closed all the time. Openings windows and doors does not alter the performance of the building
-
Construction is guaranteed to offer the highest peformance, verified by raters
- Exceeds current building code requirements
- ... and more
